OpenLab Experiment Workshop

Project Lead & Founder

Initiated and led OpenLab 2026 under the Youth Ambassadors East Asia & Pacific program. Secured U.S. State Department funding, managed budget and logistics, coordinated with embassy partners, and designed a workshop where participants conduct and test real scientific experiments.

Science Education · YA EAP · Workshop · Outreach

Young students in the region often learn science through textbooks without hands-on experimentation. Access to structured, funded workshops that let participants design, run, and evaluate real experiments is limited — especially programs backed by international institutions.

  • Applied for and secured U.S. State Department funding through the Youth Ambassadors East Asia & Pacific program.
  • Designed a multi-session workshop curriculum centered on participant-led experiments.
  • Coordinated embassy partners, venue logistics, materials procurement, and safety protocols.
  • Built evaluation criteria so participants could assess their own experimental results.
  • Fully funded workshop delivered with State Department backing and embassy support.
  • Participants completed hands-on experiments with structured hypothesis → test → analysis cycles.
  • Reusable workshop framework created for future science outreach events.

Design decisions

  • Workshop format

    Participant-led experiments

    Demonstration-only lectures

Students retain more when they form hypotheses and test them. Demonstrations alone don't build experimental thinking.

  • Funding model

State Department grant via YA EAP

    Self-funded local event

Institutional backing provides credibility, budget for quality materials, and embassy partnership for reach.
